Foundation Contributions

The CCAR Scholarship Foundation has awarded tens of thousands of dollars to deserving & needy college students since 1967. Helping to underwrite the costs of higher education for students from right here in central Contra Costa county is a great way to positively impact an individual, a family and our local community - truly a noble cause!

Our 2008 goal is to take the endowment & disbursement of CCAR scholarships to a new level again . . . to raise the bar substantially.

The disbursement of scholarship funds is both easy & challenging at the same time. The gratitude of the receiving students makes all the work behind the scenes well worth it. The challenge is that we are receiving a record number of applications for a program that has finite resources. The toughest assignment is to turn down deserving students for lack of funds.

So, it is in the endowment of scholarships where we respectfully direct your attention.

First, we simply want to make you aware of our scholarship program & the opportunity to contribute; the program is managed with integrity, audited for disbursement accuracy and with the exception of the annual scholarship luncheon & donor recognition event all monies are distributed directly to the students.

Secondly, we are appealing to your sense of 'giving back' to the community; no one can dispute the worthiness of helping to broaden the education of our young people. Many of us would not have achieved our current levels of success in career & life without financial assistance from others. Indeed, the best way to 'pay back' a favor is to 'pay it forward.' Lastly, this program will warm your heart. We respectfully offer you the chance to be involved at the root level of giving. You have the opportunity to become part of a synergistic group of people who make a difference. You will personally meet the students & parents and see for yourself what a difference your contributions will make. As the saying goes, 'that which is most personal … is most interesting.' What better way to satisfy your compelling need to help others.

Please consider this invitation to be our partner in success … with success defined as significantly impacting someone's life forever. If you have questions regarding any aspect of our scholarship program, please call on one of us. And thank you for the opportunity to share our passion!

  • "Honors at Entrance"
A contribution of $100, $200, $300 up to $999 will be gratefully accepted. No contribution is too small and the Foundation is appreciative of each one. Your company or individual name will be highlighted at the Scholarship Awards Luncheon program. A donor of $500 or more in the 'Honors at Entrance' category will receive a personal invitation to the Foundation Awards Luncheon.

  • "Dean's List"
Contributors of $1,000 to $2,499 will be invited as guests of honor at the Foundation Awards Luncheon and will be given individual recognition. Your company or individual name will receive special 'Dean's List' mention in the scholarship program and you will be personally recognized for your significant contributions.

  • "Phi Beta Kappa"
Contributors of $2,500 to $10,000 will be recognized for exemplary achievement in fostering higher education and will be distinguished guests at the Foundation Awards Luncheon. Honorable 'Phi Beta Kappa' mention in the Scholarship program will be provided and, whenever possible, the donor will personally present an award to a Scholarship recipient at the luncheon.

  • "Summa Cum Laude"
This is the highest and most revered level of contribution; an initial contributions of $1,000 or more each year accrues to a $15,000 principal amount over time. It is then designated as a 'perpetual' scholarship enabling an annual scholarship in the contributor's name granted solely from the interest generated from the principal. A 'Summa Cum Laude' perpetual scholarship establishes you as an ongoing partner in the CCAR Scholarship Foundation. You (or your designated person) remain a distinguished guest at the scholarship luncheon every year … with our unending gratitude.
